Past Pathways
The “Past Use Word Search” features verbs used to describe past events or conditions. This includes past forms of linking and sensory verbs like “was,” “appeared,” “got,” and “sounded.” Students will locate these words and associate them with past-tense usage in context.
Practicing with past-tense verbs strengthens students’ understanding of sequence and time in storytelling or recounting events. It improves grammatical knowledge and helps in forming complete, accurate past-tense sentences. The word search also enhances spelling and visual identification of past verb forms. Students build fluency in switching between tenses, a key skill for both academic and creative writing. It supports critical thinking as they connect word forms with appropriate contexts.
